USTA Tennis Court Grants 2026: How Omaha and Nebraska Facilities Can Cover 50% of Resurfacing and Construction Costs

If you manage a public tennis facility in Omaha or anywhere in Nebraska (a school, park, recreation center, or community club) there’s a funding program worth knowing about in 2026.

The USTA’s Tennis Venue Services (TVS) program offers competitive grant funding that can cover up to 50% of your tennis court project costs. We’re talking real money: up to $150,000 for new court construction, up to $60,000 for mid-level work like resurfacing and lighting upgrades, and smaller grants for amenity improvements and accessibility features.

If you’ve been putting off a tennis court resurfacing project in Omaha because the budget wasn’t there, you might now be able to afford it.

How the USTA grant categories work

The USTA TVS grant program breaks projects into three categories based on scope and complexity. Here’s what each one covers and what Nebraska facilities can realistically expect to receive.

Category 1: Low-complexity improvements (up to $10,000)

This tier covers basic upgrades that improve the playing experience or facility accessibility. Think windscreens, backboards, defibrillators, SmartAccess gates, scoreboards, and electronic line-calling systems. Accessibility improvements like widened gates, ramps, and paved pathways also qualify here.

Category 1 maxes out at $5,000 for general amenities and $10,000 each for court tech and inclusive access upgrades — all at 50% of project cost. The bonus: you can stack a Category 1 grant on top of a Category 2 application.

Category 2: Resurfacing, lighting, and fencing (up to $60,000)

This is where most Omaha tennis facilities have the most immediate need…and the most opportunity.

Category 2 covers tennis court resurfacing costs (up to $8,000 per court), lighting system upgrades (up to $15,000 per court), and fencing installation or repair (up to $12,000 per court). The total Category 2 cap is $60,000.

Resurfacing under this grant can include full acrylic resurfacing, crack repair systems, overlay treatments, birdbath patching, and leveling — so it’s not just a paint job. If your Nebraska tennis courts are showing their age, this is the most direct path to getting them back in shape at a fraction of the cost.

Category 3: New construction and indoor structures (up to $150,000)

Building new tennis courts in Nebraska?

The USTA will fund up to $35,000 per court for new construction or full reconstruction, and up to $50,000 per court for indoor structures like court bubbles, fabric-frame buildings, or rigid metal enclosures. Category 3 maxes out at $150,000 and requires a technical review before approval.

For parks departments or school districts in the Omaha metro considering a new facility build, this grant funding can meaningfully change the math on a project.

How to apply for a USTA tennis court grant in 2026

The USTA TVS program reviews applications on a rolling basis, so there’s no single annual deadline to worry about.

You apply, complete your project, and receive funding as a reimbursement after a final accountability review. Organizations are eligible to apply once per 12-month period per site.
